Akagera Wild Animal Park

  • Uncategorized

I have to start this post by saying I am not a Wildlife photographer nor do I pretend to be. OK, well I guess I do pretend sometimes. Especially on this day. I mean if you are a photographer and find yourself on the other side of the world on an African safari what else do you do.

This was my second trip to Akagera in as many years. I just finished up working with the Saddleback P.E.A.C.E. plan and with a final day in Rwanda before we returned home the team had decided to get in a day in the park to recover.

To see more about my P.E.A.C.E. trip you can visit my write up on the trip. Today I will be focusing on the park. Rwanda is a beautiful country that has an amazing recovery and the park is no exception. So, for your enjoyment here are a few photos. If you are interested in more or would like to purchase photos related to my travels to Rwanda please contact me. Any proceeds from these photos will be donated back to the recovery efforts in the country.

A little more about the Akagera game reserve:

Akagera is one of the largest parks of its kinda and is a testament to the resolve of the Rwandan people. After the Genocide in the 90s the park was left in rough shape as the Rwandan people struggled for survival. However, they did not forget the park. Several species that had totally disappeared from the park are now beginning to thrive as both the park and the country begin to blossom to a beacon for may other countries in the region.
